Support Staff-2017-2018 School Improvement Grant-Voluntary Prekindergarten Lead Paraprofessional-5 Positions Available ($1,250 Signing Bonus Offered+Additional Bonuses)
Must meet one of the following Florida DOE School-Year VPK Instructor Credential and District Qualification requirements:
- CDA issued by Council for Professional Recognition and DOE Emergent Literacy Course and a passing score Paraprofessional test or 60+ semester hours college credited
from an accredited college or university or
- CDAE issued by a DCF-approved program and DOE Emergent Literacy Course and a passing score Paraprofessional test or 60+ semester hours college credited from an
accredited college or university or
- Associate's or higher degree in an unrelated field, minimum six (6) credit hours in early childhood education or child development, and DOE Emergent Literacy Course or
- Associate's or higher degree in child development, and DOE Emergent Literacy Course
At least one (1) year of experience in providing child care services for children any age from birth through 8 years of age.
Position Goal: Serves as the Lead Paraprofessional in Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten classrooms, working in conjunction with the Pre-Kindergarten Specialists. The VPK Lead Paraprofessional will provide appropriate educational opportunities and instruction for each student, according to the guidelines established in state and District policies or statutes.
Examples of Responsibilities:
Implement lesson plans as provided by Prekindergarten Specialist, following VPK Education Standards, and using approved educational materials.
Maintain accurate records, reports, and measures of student growth, as required by Florida statutes, regulations, and District policies.
Establish and maintain open and positive communication with parents.
Work with Instructional staff, Paraprofessionals, Pre-Kindergarten Specialists, administrators, and other stakeholders in planning for instruction.
Attend VPK program meetings, staff development training, and related inservice activities.
Establish and maintain a classroom atmosphere conducive to developmentally appropriate learning practices.
Implement local, state, and federal policies and procedures to support school level goals and regulations.
Work closely with school and program level support staff to assist with articulation and coordination of program services and to assist children with special needs.
Use effective and positive classroom management and discipline procedures and strategies.
Communicate information effectively in oral and written mode.
Maintain state required qualifications for this position.
Perform other duties as assigned by Principal, Pre-Kindergarten Administrator, or Supervisor.
