Job Description


Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field or High School Diploma or equivalent, plus one (1) post high school accounting course.

One (1) year of related experience with Bachelor’s Degree or five (5) years of related experience without Bachelor’s Degree. Additional experience may be substituted on a year for year basis for education, provided at least one (1) post high school accounting course has been completed.

Position Goal: This is a advanced and specialized position which requires in-depth knowledge of fund accounting, budgeting, statistical analysis, and detailed reporting. Job assignments involve data entry, maintaining accounting records, reporting of information, and coordinating the work of the department’s accounting clerks. This position also advises on compliance with policies, procedures, and state/federal regulations.

Examples of Responsibilities:

Conduct routine reviews of all related accounting records for accuracy and completion (i.e. accounts receivable, purchasing, accounts payable, payroll, inventory, and general ledger accounts.)

Oversee and account for the collection of money from all sources. Prepare invoices for payment.

Assist in the preparation of the department budget.

Maintain all related accounting records and prepare budget amendments.

Monitor purchase orders, work orders and IMC requests.

Train the department’s accounting clerks and coordinate their work assignments.

Reconcile monthly bank statements and enter deposits and withdrawals on the computer.

To perform other work-related duties as assigned by Supervisor.
