Support Staff-Building Inspector-Plan Reviewer
High School Diploma or GED. Must be a certified building inspector/plan reviewer licensed in the State of Florida. Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university preferred.
Five (5) years minimum experience as a building inspector, building plans examiner, building code administrator, or project field representative within Florida. Educational Facilities experience preferred.
Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License.
Position Goal: This position is primarily responsible for providing building code plan review and inspection services in accordance with the requirements set forth in the Florida Building Code and Florida Statute. To assure that architectural and engineering plans and specifications meet Florida Department of Education rules and regulations.
Examples of Responsibilities:
Perform plan review of new construction, remodel and renovation projects throughout the District to meet the requirements of the Florida Building Code, DOE design standards, and District design standards.
Perform inspections of new construction, remodel and renovation projects throughout the District to meet the requirements of the Florida Building Code, DOE design standards, District design standards, and approved construction documents and specifications.
Provide technical support and code interpretation, when requested, for the Coordinator, Building & Fire Code in relation to the Florida Building Code.
Provide plan review services for approved shop drawings for compliance with technical codes and design standards.
Make recommendations for process improvements to the Coordinator, Building & Fire Code in relation to the Code Compliance & Environmental Safety Department.
Prepare detailed reports of inspection findings and coordinating necessary re-inspections with contractors, Project Field Representatives, and Maintenance Supervisors.
Monitor/inspect all work associated with the Annual Facilities Maintenance Permit.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor.
