Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent required

Minimum of 2 (two) years related work experience.

Job-Related Knowledge and Skills:

Intermediate Skills:  Has knowledge of office or operational procedures. Performs basic typing/word-processing, bookkeeping, checking or charts or records and posting of information to a database/spreadsheet, following instructions. Must have knowledge of:  meal production/planning procedures; food merchandising/customer service techniques; all national guidelines related to National School Lunch Program; SBP, and After School Snack Program; use and care of institutional kitchen equipment and utensils; and health and safety rules and regulations pertaining to food establishments including sanitation and maintenance regulation.

Position Goal: This position is responsible for assisting in the efficient and satisfactory operation of the department in accordance with District policies, procedures and methods, State Board Rules and laws. This position is to be utilized at High Schools with meal equivalents less than 1400 and all schools with meal equivalents of 1000 minimum.   All small satellite feeding sites that are not eligible for an assistant manager may utilize this position.

Examples of Responsibilities:

To supervise and participate in the preparation, cooking and service of food for students and adults as directed by the manager.

To assist in enforcing sanitation and safety controls.

To supervise the food service staff by assigning work locations, training staff and enforcing production standards as directed by the Food Service Manager.

To supervise all the food service staff during the absence of the manager or assistant manager.

To be a resource to the manager in planning and forecasting.

To assist with inventory maintenance and controls

To assist in the enforcement of cost control measures.

To work with the manager to ensure program integrity.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.

Work requires occasional physical exertion and/or muscular strain. Work involves several disagreeable elements and/or exposure to job hazards where there is some possibility of injury.
