Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

Journeyman's license or Air Conditioning, Refrigeration Institute Certification or Associate's Degree in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration or NATE Certification or ten (10) years commercial mechanical experience.

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Four (4) years experience in the repair of A/C equipment or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Must be able to read and interpret construction blueprints and air conditioning wiring

Diagrams.

Supply personal hand tools required to do job in a professional manner.

Physically fit for the demands of the job.

Valid Florida Driver's License.

Experience in other maintenance areas or trades desired.

Certified in Refrigerant Transition and Recovery in at least Type I, II, II or IV classification.

Position Goal: This position is responsible for the installation, repairs, preventive maintenance and service to air conditioning equipment. Also responsible for insuring proper operations of duct systems and cooling towers throughout the school district as well as correction of indoor air quality problems and energy management systems.

Examples of Responsibilities:

To be responsible for all required operational, safety and maintenance checks for assigned vehicles, tools and equipment.

To stay abreast of technological changes within the HVAC trade.

To ensure accountability of all bench stock material authorized to be carried on assigned vehicles.

To assess job tasks and do material take off and procurement tasks as necessary.

To provide quality control inspections on completed work and ensure compliance with applicable codes.

To assist in the moving and set up of relocatable classrooms

To overhaul and service A/C and heating equipment by repairing, replacing, or adjusting worn or broken parts.

To test equipment for leaks, adjust and repair valves and piping connections, fittings, change or adjust belts, replace gaskets and hardware.

To add and remove refrigerants, check pressures and make inspections for preventive maintenance.

To assume the duties of the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning Section Chief/Driver when assigned.

To perform other work-related duties as assigned by Supervisor.
