**CDA REQUIRED**

**Must Meet No Child Left Behind Act Requirement:

From an Accredited College – Associate or Higher Degree or 60 Semester Hours

or Passing Score of 464 or higher on Paraprofessional Test

Position Goal: The Pre-kindergarten Early Intervention Classroom assistant is responsible for assisting the teacher in carrying out the requirements of the Pre-Kindergarten Early Intervention Program.

Examples of Responsibilities:

To assist the teacher in the instruction of pre-kindergarten students.

To assist with the specific instructional, behavioral, medical, academic, and other needs of students.

To assist the teacher with general clerical/housekeeping activities.

To accompany the teacher on home visits.

To assist with care of children during parent meetings.

To aid in the development and implementation of developmentally appropriate plans under the direction of the classroom teacher.

To attend a minimum of ten (10) hours annually of PKEI inservice offered and/or approved by the Pre-Kindergarten department.

To assist with teaching of social skills during mealtimes.

To assist with the supervision of children throughout the day.

To perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

H.S. Diploma or GED and 40 hours of Children and Family Services (CFS) Child Development Training required (training must be started within 90 days and completed within one year of date of employment), Child Development Associate (CDA) credential desirable.

Ability to follow instruction and work well with others, ability to type, ability to learn skills necessary to provide basic maintenance and/or nursing care for children, sufficient health and strength to lift and carry students when necessary.

Work requires occasional physical exertion and or muscular strain.    Work involves several disagreeable elements and or exposure to job hazards where there is some possibility of injury.
