PLEASE NOTE:
At any point in the selection process, the Superintendent has the prerogative to transfer a current administrator into the above position if he/she meets the qualifications.

Position Goal: This position is responsible for planning, organizing and directing the district-level accounting activities of the District.

Examples of Responsibilities:

To direct the finance and accounts payable staff.

To direct and oversee preparation of financial reports required by statute and regulatory authorities including the district's annual financial report and program cost report.

To obtain and coordinate annual financial audits of the District, its component units and charter schools, and school internal accounts.

To direct the District's cash management, banking and investing activities.

To develop accounting policies and keep all schools and departments informed of current accounting policies and procedures.

To assist the Assistant Superintendent for Business Services with all district debt issues and to oversee budgeting and accounting for outstanding long term debt.

To supervise the capital projects budgeting and accounting processes.

To direct the development of software necessary for  district-level accounting and financial reporting.

To direct accounting activities related to charter schools.

To assist in all Finance Department activities under the supervision of the Assistant Superintendent for Business Services.

To attend appropriate state and area meetings relating to job responsibilities.

To perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting

Minimum of five years Accounting or Auditing experience, preferably governmental, CPA certificate preferred.

NEPOTISM

The School Board shall not employ two or more close relatives or family members where one individual is the immediate supervisor of another. Such close relatives or family members are defined as: father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, first cousin, nephew, niece, husband, wife, father-in-law, sister-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, brother-in-law, stepfather, stepmother, stepson, stepdaughter, stepbrother, stepsister, half-brother, or half-sister.

All instance of nepotism shall be investigated annually by the Superintendent. All persons concerned shall be consulted and steps taken to eliminate such practice when recommended in individual cases. Recommendations made shall be subject to School Board approval.
