Job description
The Director, Design and Construction reports to the Chief Facilities Officer and serves as the design and construction lead. A dynamic leader is sought to lead one of the fastest growing school expansion programs in the state, which serves as a model for high performance building criteria.

The Director, Design and Construction leads up to 20-personnel, which includes planning, design, construction, project controls and construction finance. The position requires strong leadership, organizational, budgeting and the ability to take initiative. To coordinate and direct facility, design and construction, directing the successful implementation of the Board Approved annual capital outlay work plan, supervision of project management staff and oversight of major construction and capital renewal projects. To review design and construction needs, recommend priorities and assist in the preparation of the District's five year work plan. To provide oversight for all cost events to ensure that fiscal responsibility is exercised at all levels.

Job category

Required qualifications, skills and experience
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Building Construction with at least eight (8) years’ experience in design and construction management. Preference shall be given to those individuals that are Certified Construction Managers or licensed as an Architect, Professional Engineer or Commercial General Contractor.

Background in educational facilities management preferred. Licensed Architect or Commercial General Contractor preferred. Prior work experience shall include background of managing and directing and managing multiple design and construction projects.
