Instructional-Program Specialist for Emotional/Behavioral Disabilities

Job description

To serve as liaison between regular and special educators in the district.
To review and monitor individual education plans (IEP's) for content and compliance with the pupil progression plan.
To serve as liaison between teachers of ESE students and FDLRS personnel in acquiring research information, appropriate instructional materials and equipment; and in the provision of staff development opportunities.
To provide information to Osceola Teacher Education Center personnel regarding staff development needs of ESE teachers, therapist and other personnel.
To provide staff development activities for teachers and other personnel regarding ESE programs.
To adapt, develop and implement a appropriate curricula for ESE programs in accordance with the Course Code Directory, curriculum frameworks, minimum student performance standards and School Board policies and procedure.
To assist teachers in obtaining appropriate classroom materials, textbooks and equipment for their students.
To assist school level personnel in providing parent information and education activities and in coordination of agency services for ESE students.
To assist in the annual evaluation of ESE programs.
To serve as liaison between ESE instructional personnel and program consultants in the Department of Education.
To attend staff development activities related to programming for ESE students.
To perform other duties assigned by the Director of Exceptional Student Education.

Required qualifications, skills and experience

A Bachelor's Degree in ESE or related area. (Master's Degree desirable.
A minimum of five years successful ESE teaching experience.
Certification in an area of ESE or related area.
