**Must Meet No Child Left Behind Act Requirement:

From an Accredited College – Associate or Higher Degree or 60 Semester Hours

or Passing Score of 464 or higher on Paraprofessional Test

Position Goal: The PK/ESE Classroom assistant is responsible for assisting the teacher in carrying out the requirements of the Individual Education Plans of exceptional students.

Examples of Responsibilities:

To assist the teacher in the instruction of pre-kindergarten exceptional students.

To assist with the specific instructional, behavioral, medical, academic, and other needs of students.

To assist the teacher with general clerical/housekeeping activities.

To assist in the physical care, including toileting and clean-up of students assigned.

To assist in the transportation of children, including carrying and lifting of students from one area to another.

To assist in the implementation of therapy/treatment programs of assigned students.

To assist in feeding programs.

To assist with care and supervision of students throughout the day and during IEP meetings/parent conferences.

To aid in the development and implementation of developmentally appropriate individual educational needs under the direction of the classroom teacher.

To attend a minimum of six (6) hours annually of PK/ESE inservice offered by the ESE department.

To perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Work requires occasional physical exertion and or muscular strain.  Work involves several disagreeable elements and or exposure to job hazards where there is some possibility of injury.

H.S. Diploma or GED (AA degree if determined to apply to Pre-K). Preferably 30 hours of Children and Family Services (CFS) Child Development Training required Child Development Associate (CDA) credential desirable.
