Job Description

Formal Education:

MS with certification in school social work, psychology or guidance and counseling or valid state clinical social worker or mental health license.

No prior experience required other than experience required for education/licensure.

Valid Driver’s license/provide own transportation.

Position Goal: Serve as liaison between school personnel, parents and community agencies. Provide assistance on meeting the physical, social, emotional and developmental needs of students to enhance their functioning within the school program.

Examples of Responsibilities:

Counsel children in both an individual and group setting.

Consul t with parents, teachers, staff, etc.  Participate in parent conferences.  Act as a resource for school personnel regarding student needs.

Provide crisis intervention.

Conduct home visits and evaluate family needs during the school year.

Document case information and write reports.  Maintain appropriate documentation and files.

Receive and process referrals on students from parents, school and community.

Serve as liaison between school personnel, parents and community agencies during the school year.

Attend staffing and child study meetings.  Attend in-service training and professional meetings.

Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
