Why Our Support Staff Love Working Here
“Most students see the Dean's office as the old, 'I am in trouble' office. My goal is to change the way students view our office. One of the ways we are doing this is through the PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions & Support) program. We go so far as to call the parents to let them know their student received a positive referral. They are so grateful because they assume their child is in trouble. For our more challenging students, I give them daily goals and at the end of the week they receive special treats from me. My goal is to always speak positive, even during a negative situation. They need to know that the mistakes they make now have consequences but is not the end all. I came across this quote to place on my whiteboard in my office. It simply states, 'Learning is never done without errors and defeats', Vladimir Lenin.”
“It is a privilege for me to share with all of you how much I love working at The School District of Osceola County. Boggy Creek Elementary has been my home since 2005. I was blessed to be hired to work here because it has given me the opportunity to serve in various roles in this diverse community. It has also helped me to develop professionally. At Boggy Creek Elementary, we are not only co-workers, but a family working toward the same goals. I really enjoy my job and there is no other place I would rather be and grow as a professional. Come and join us at the School District of Osceola County.”
“...it has been such an awesome journey for me. My very first experience started at Deerwood Elementary back in 2009 as an ESOL Paraprofessional. Deerwood Elementary allowed me to excel and grow within the organization. Through my years at Deerwood Elementary, I was honored to also fill the roles of Student Records Clerk and Bookkeeper. In 2017, I transferred to Adult Learning Center Osceola and served as a Secretary. I have been given many opportunities to learn various roles and have been entrusted to serve throughout the community. In my years with the Osceola School District, I have created an awesome working family and have met such amazing colleagues along the way. This past November 2020, I accomplished my 10-year goal. It is a privileged for me to have finally made it into a position at the main office of our school district that will allow even more room for growth. I enjoy every single day driving to work knowing I am part of a huge family called The School District of Osceola County.”
“...to work at the School District of Osceola County has been a privilege. During the past 14 years, the district has provided me the opportunity to grow personally and professionally. I started as a paraprofessional and now I work as a bookkeeper in the district office. I am also part of the Operational Leadership Academy. I love to work at the district because through my job I am able to grow, serve our community and contribute to the education of future generations.”
“...working as an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter and seeing the smiles on the students' faces is so fulfilling! One of the best feelings is helping a young student “find their voice”, and help them communicate through the use of ASL. I currently work at Partin Settlement in 2nd grade. Though it has been challenging, it’s always rewarding to see the student have communication and able to express for themselves. I love to give laughs and cheers and being in an elementary school truly is fun and entertaining to connect to the little ones! I truly love what I do.”
“...I have 35 years of teaching experience, but this is my 28th year working for our School District of Osceola County and I love it!! Working for this school district has given me a chance to influence the lives of adults and young people. School district employees all contribute to student learning, whether it's in the form of teaching a lesson, working with a student one-on-one or helping to maintain the learning environment. I also have the opportunity to inspire young students every day. I have always received support from my supervisors and colleagues. I invite you to join our Osceola School District Team to make a difference in our community.”
